I visited Hokkaido in 2012 and it was only recently that I finally went through all the photos taken by my mum, sis and I, as well as edited my raw files. I started to work on a photo book – which expanded into two volumes – and have been laying out the photos manually (not using any preset theme). Then I stalled.
This was partly due to my manic work schedule in five five months of 2015, plus my recent “obsession” with Istanbul and Turkish food – which has inspired recent blog posts.
But it’s about time I resume my photo book. As I’ll be going to Hokkaido again (yay!) this summer, hopefully this will inspire me to finish this overdue project.
This 12-photo collage shows some of my favourite moments during the 12 days of summer with my family in Hokkaido.Sightseeing included flower gardens in full bloom in summer, as well as tranquil lakes surrounded by mountains. We ate lots of seafood including (one) giant king crab and sushi, as well as ramen and (too many) Japanese sweets and desserts. There was plenty of walking – be it in the mountains or through an elevated swampy lake – followed by relaxing in numerous onsens (hot springs) along the way.
Hokkaido in summer is a paradise for nature lovers – majestic mountains, lush greenery, blue skies and tranquil water views. This is definitely one of my most memorable trips and I can’t wait to return in the next months!
