Counting down to Hong Kong

Moving from sleepy Brussels with its perpetual gloomy weather to the bustling East Asian metropolis that is Hong Kong will be a welcome change. I can’t wait!

In 18 days, I’ll be calling Hong Kong my new home.

This will be a massive change moving from grey Brussels – courtesy of its constant drizzle and dark clouds – to one of the densest cities in the world with needle-like skyscrapers dotted all over.

Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities in the world. Since my first visit at the age of 15, I’ve been drawn to its state of organised chaos, intoxicating energy and colourful diversity.

I’m very much looking forward this change of environment and am thrilled to return to Asia where I’ll be closer to my family. There are many thoughts in my mind – about leaving Brussels and Europe after more than five years, relocating to Hong Kong, learnings from living abroad for the first time…

I might be writing sporadically for the next few weeks as I catch up with friends in Paris before I leave, sort things out for our move – including figuring out which books to bring with us, and get settled into life and work in Hong Kong.

    Wish you goo and safe move back to Asia. I have been only a few times in HK because of my job but each time had opportunity to stay a couple of days longer to visit the place and I really felt the energy and what you call organized chaos! One day I’ll bring my wife to visit HK, it’s a must!

As for my books, I’ve been reading furiously and it’s going to be a difficult decision on what to bring/not bring with me.
