I was in London over the weekend and returned to Brussels with five new books in the suitcase. The only one that I had intended to get was Mo Yan’s “Life and Death are Wearing Me Out”, but it’s so difficult to resist the temptation of picking up more books once I was in the bookstore!
Tonight, I was going to do a short review about Chris Thrall’s “Eating Smoke”, a biography about his downward spiral as a meth addict in Hong Kong in the 1990s.
But I got distracted by the photos that I took earlier in January when I was in Hong Kong and decided to start renaming, as well as processing, some of them. Here are a few shots inspired by the striking image on the cover of Eating Smoke:
Hong Kong at night viewed from the rooftop of a six-storey building at Tai Ping Shan Street in Sheung Wan.
Day time view from the 5th floor terrace of 22-24 Tai Ping Shan Street, Sheung Wan
Diptych of the view from the 23rd floor of 472-480 Reclamation Street
