Saturday, 23 March 2013: I finished a roll of expired Solaris 400 using AB’s Voigtlander Bessa rangefinder. It was my first time using a rangefinder and it wasn’t too hard to get a hang of it.
It was also the first time I’ve shot with a film camera in more than a year. How I miss the anticipation of waiting for the images to be developed, as well as the sweet sense of satisfaction when the photos turn out to be what I had expected (or more). There’s also something about the texture in film photos that I find to be lacking in photos taken with digital cameras in general… a gentle, raw finish.
This was the last frame that I took before I wound the film and dropped it off at Negatif+ for developing. Just as I pressed the shutter button after getting the focus set on the traffic light, a motorcycle sped into frame.
