Chinese New Year will start on 10 February this year. Just round the corner!
This photo collage reminds of an auspicious greeting “年年有余” that is commonly heard during this festive period.
What “年年有余” means: (Wish you will have) Abundance every year
The last character “余” is a homonym for “鱼”, which sounds like “yù” in hanyu pinyin. Hence, it is customary to enjoy some fish at meals during Chinese New Year as this is symbolic of abundance and prosperity!
Both photos were taken in Paris: one, a graffiti work, the other, a fried fish at an African restaurant.
